A small amount of explosives were used to disrupt selected building supports. Police set up a perimeter around the building to prevent onlookers from getting too close.

Area residents could see dust drifting from the site following the implosion. The city recommends that anyone concerned about the dust should remain indoors until it has cleared.

The land is being redeveloped by Crown Enterprises Inc. as part of a multimillion dollar automotive logistics project.

“This redevelopment effort is being completed at the request of our client, allowing for operation.”

The Budd Company was a major supplier of the automobile industry.
