WARREN, Mich. – A Warren man was sentenced Thursday morning in a child abuse case where a 21-month-old girl was shaken and later died from her injuries.
Gregory Lowe was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He was found guilty of first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse.
Lailah Ann Williams was rushed to the hospital April 4, 2105. She died twelve days later.
The girl’s mother had left her daughter in the care of Lowe while she was at work.
“I just don’t understand why,” Lailah’s grandmother, Kisha Avinger, said at the sentencing. “I was only eight blocks away, and I could have taken my grandbaby.”
