WARREN, Mich. – A 29-year-old Warren police officer is hospitalized after being hit by a pickup truck while directing traffic Tuesday afternoon.
Officer Kenneth Hubert was hit by a Dodge pickup truck at the intersection of 13 Mile and Hoover roads. He was taken to St. John Hospital in Detroit. The department says he has possible head injuries.
Commissioner Jere Green said Hubert has been with the department for four years.
Police said the 54-year-old pickup truck driver who hit Hubert remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Witnesses Local 4 talked to said the lights had been stuck flashing red for more than 24 hours.
Green said Hubert and other officers directing traffic had their marked patrol vehicles with their emergency flashing lights on the scene.
