Wayne police: barricaded gunman killed self in home

WAYNE, Mich. – After a more than eight-hour standoff on Monday, Wayne police entered a home on Ash Street where a gunman had been barricading himself inside and found him dead. 

Police said 39-year-old man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

Police surrounded the home in the 3000 block of Ash Street just before noon. They had been trying to negotiate with the man. No one else was hurt. 

Wayne City Hall was put on lockdown as a precaution.
