Windsor doctors rule out Ebola for patient in isolation

WINDSOR, Ontario – A patient was isolated with Ebola-like symptoms this week at Windsor Regional Hospital in Windsor, Ontario, but doctors have since ruled out the virus.

The man recently returned from one of the affected countries in west Africa, said Dr. Allen Heimann, who is medical officer of health for the Windsor-Essex County Health unit.

"It will take several days for lab results to come back to determine if the patient has contracted the Ebola virus," said Heimann.

However, the hospital told Local 4 Monday evening that it's now clear this patient does not have Ebola. It's not clear exactly what illness the patient may have at this point.

Ron Foster, a spokesman for the hospital, said all preventative measures were taken.

"The individual appears to be low-risk at this time," said Foster.
