Woman accused of stealing while store was full of officers

DETROIT – Allen Park police said a woman is accused of trying to steal two bottles of liquor from a store that was holding a "Shop with a Cop" event on Wednesday.

Police said 19-year-old Leah Elizabeth Howard was arrested after she was stopped outside the Meijer store at Fairlane green and admitted to taking a bottle of tequila and Jagermeister. Police said a store security guard had alerted an officer who was inside the store participating in the event.

The store had about a dozen officers in it for the event, which teams up needy children and officers to go shopping together during the holiday season.
