Suspected drunk husband drives up as Hamburg mother is arrested for DUI with children in car

Couple arrested in connection with drunken-driving instances

HAMBURG TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 36-year-old Hamburg Township woman was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk with her two young children in the car. When her husband arrived to pick up the children from the scene, police arrested him for suspected drunken driving, as well.

Siobhan Theresa Egnot was arrested around 3 p.m. Jan. 29 at Bass Ridge Road and Bass Court. According to police, Egnot's 2016 Ford Explorer slid off the road into a ditch not far from her home.

Officers believed Egnot was intoxicated so they performed field sobriety tests, which they said she failed.

Before police arrived, Egnot called her husband to pick their 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. When her 39-year-old husband arrived in a 2007 Pontiac G6, police said he was also suspected of driving drunk.

Egnot was arrested and her husband was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving. Both were taken to jail and given blood tests.

They were taken to the Livingston County Jail. Egnot was released after paying $5,000 bail.

The children were taken by Child Protective Services and later turned over to Egnot's mother, police said.

Egnot was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated with occupants younger than 16. Her husband has not yet been charged.

Egnot is scheduled to return to the Livingston County District Court on Monday for a pretrial hearing.
