HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Macomb County police said a woman's body was found Friday in the back seat of a car parked in the 39400 block of Cloverleaf Street in Harrison Township.

After discovering the woman's body, police went into the home on Cloverleaf Street and arrested a man who was inside. He was taken into custody at 10:28 a.m.

The 36-year-old man is suspected in the case, according to the Macomb County Sheriff.

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said police received a call at 11:34 p.m. Thursday from a concerned neighbor who was witnessing a woman and a man arguing outside a parked silver car on Cloverleaf Street.

According to police, the woman appeared to be intoxicated and was trying to drive away.

The 911 caller saw the woman drive away toward South River Road. Police said a deputy was dispatched to the street. But did he miss the car?

Police found the car Friday morning, eight houses down from where the argument happened. It's unclear if the woman could have been saved if she was found Thursday night.

"We are still trying to speak to the deputy that handled that call to find out where he went, what he saw or what he didn't see," Wickersham said.

The woman who was found dead in the car was 48 years old. Police believe she was living in St. Clair Shores. Officials are trying to contact family in that area.

Police said they will interview the suspect, who they believe to be a boyfriend. Detectives are still trying to clarify the relationship between the woman and the suspect. Police said it's unclear whether or not they had been in a dating relationship.

Investigators believe the woman's injuries were sustained inside a house on Cloverleaf Street, where investigators are currently looking for evidence. She might have been severely injured when she tried to drive the car.

Wickersham said there was a lot of blood inside the front and back of the car. The woman's body has been taken to the medical examiner's office, where officials are trying to determine her cause of death.

Neighbors said the suspect is a troubled man. They were horrified to learn what happened on the quiet street. The 911 caller saw the woman drive away toward South River Road.

"You've got to be careful of how you interact with him," a neighbor said. "He's just weird."
