911 call released in Macomb Township homicide, attempted suicide

Husband taken to hospital with self-inflicted gunshot wounds

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A murder warrant was obtained in a Macomb Township homicide and attempted suicide.

A woman was shot and killed by her husband while speaking to police dispatchers on the phone, police said.

Macomb Township police responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Country Ridge Lane in Macomb Township after a 38-year-old woman called police to report a domestic dispute.

While on the phone with dispatchers, several gunshots were heard over the phone.

When deputies arrived on scene, the woman and her 44-year-old husband were both lying on the floor with gunshot wounds.

Police said the woman was pronounced dead on scene and emergency crews transported the husband to a hospital with self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Deputies located a .40 caliber hand gun on the floor near where the husband was lying.

Authorities said the husband is currently in custody at the hospital and his identity is being withheld pending warrant authorization and arraignment.

Police said the woman’s 16-year-old son was in the home at the time of the shooting and was uninjured .

He was turned over to family members. 

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
