Woman robbed, sexually assaulted at Pontiac laundromat

Oakland County Sheriff's Office searching for man

PONTIAC, Mich. – The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man officers say robbed the Baldwin Coin Laundry in Pontiac and sexually assaulted a female employee.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. after the man came to the front door of the business.

The 35-year-old female employee told the man that he needed laundry to enter and replied that he would be washing a coat. Once inside the laundromat, he sat down and the victim told him again that he couldn't stay unless he washed clothes. He then said his mother was bringing clothes.

Soon after, the man told the employee he had a gun in his coat pocket and demanded she give him money from the register. He then walked the employee to a back room of the business where he physically and sexually assaulted her.

A similar incident happened in April. Officers were able to arrest the individual involved in that sexual assault and robbery.

K-9 units tracked the man for a considerable distance, but eventually lost the scent.

The woman was taken to the hospital.

Surveillance video shows the man, who is described as black, about 20 years old, and 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing dark shoes, blue jeans, a red or orange shirt, a brown leather coat and a dark knit hat with orange and white stripes.

Anyone with information who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. There is a $1,000 reward for information.
