Woman found dead near park on Detroit's east side identified

Victim is 29-year-old Kayla Kristine Yaroch

DETROIT – The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a woman whose body was found Tuesday morning near Chandler Park on Detroit's east side.

Kayla Kristine Yaroch, 29, was found on Malcom Street. She died from "multiple injuries," the medical examiner's office said.

Capt. Mark Bliss said it appears Yaroch was either hit or dragged by a car. Some clothes were found near the body.

People who live in the area said they have called police about prostitution on Malcom Street, and they also believe the woman found is someone who they tried to help in the past.

"We feed em, give em clothes and money in the winter because we don't know if they have family or how they came to this point," said Cherenika Samuel.

Another neighbor, Kat Granger, also expressed her concern.

"It's so sad that this would happen. It's bad enough we have to fight to get our children to behave but when you see things like this it's too much," said Granger.

Police say they are trying to figure out if the woman was killed in the spot where she was found, or was dumped there.
