Monroe-based Yanfeng Automotive Interiors laying off 321 employees

MONROE, Mich. – Yanfeng Automotive Interiors is making major job cuts to its Michigan workforce.

The Monroe-based company says it is preparing to hand layoff notices to approximately 321 employees which include 9 salary and 312 hourly positions.

Yanfeng says the layoffs will affect workers at its facilities located at 2200 Revard Road and at 1833 Frenchtown Center Drive, MI 48162. The company says the jobs will be permanently eliminated.

Eliminations are expected to begin on or about April 7, 2017 and continue for two weeks thereafter.

"Seniority transfer and placement rights are available under the existing collective bargaining agreement for affected employees, and it is possible that placement opportunities in other Yanfeng plants may be available for some of the affected employees," says Human Resources Manager Patti Gornick.
