Jogger nearly abducted in Ypsilanti Township park

Police search for man with flaming 8-ball tattoo, scar on face

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are looking for a man with a flaming 8-ball tattoo on his neck who they said attempted to abduct a woman in Ypsilanti Township.

Police said the woman was jogging Saturday evening in North Bay Park when the man grabbed her and tried to drag her into the woods.

The man was scared off when another jogger approached, police said.

The woman suffered minor scratches and bruises, but had no serious injuries.

The man is described by police as white, 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet and 2 inches, and about 250 pounds.  He is described as having a muscular build, short hair, and a full beard.

In addition to the tattoo on his neck, he has a scar on his face that starts at his forehead, runs through his eyebrow, and ends at the top of his eye socket.

The man was last seen wearing running shoes, a gray short-sleeved shirt and gray windbreaker pants.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said that an attack like this is very unusual.
