DTE Foundation unveils new float for "America's Thanksgiving Parade" 2016 in Detroit

On October 19th, DTE Energy foundation unveiled its new float for "America's Thanksgiving Parade presented by Art Van."

"We are so pleased to unveil our new float this year, which celebrates our longstanding commitment to taking care of the environment and represents the many ways that we help to grow, protect and restore Michigan and its natural beauty,” said Faye Nelson, Vice President of DTE Energy.

Designed and built in partnership by DTE Energy and The Parade Company, this massive float possesses an 18-foot canoe and a 22-foot-tall wind turbine with a wingspan of 12 feet. The float also features a DTE volunteer planting a tree under the DTE guidelines to increase awareness of environmental safety.

What does it take to build such a colossal float? Over 100 volunteers sculpting and painting more than 1,000 flowers on the float, that's what.

The parade will air on Local 4 and be live streamed on ClickOnDetroit.com, including a one-hour national broadcast reach of over 165 cities.
