Michigan football remains No. 3 in College Football Playoff rankings

Wolverines 9-0 with 3 wins over ranked teams

The Michigan Wolverines held strong at No. 3 in the second week of the College Football Playoff rankings.

Michigan improved to 9-0 Saturday with a dominant 59-3 win over Maryland. It was Michigan's third win by over 50 points this season and its seventh win by double digits.

The Wolverines have three wins over teams ranked in the CFP poll: A 14-7 victory over No. 7 Wisconsin, a 45-28 victory over No. 12 Colorado and a 49-10 victory over No. 10 Penn State. Michigan is the only team in the country with three wins over top-15 CFP teams.

Michigan is ranked behind two fellow undefeated teams -- No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Clemson -- in the rankings. No. 4 Washington is the only other undefeated team in the Power 5 conferences.

Western Michigan, which improved to 9-0 last Tuesday, moved up to No. 21 in the CFP rankings.
