When Michigan takes the field Saturday against the Iowa Hawkeyes, fans will have their eyes on stars like Jabrill Peppers, Jourdan Lewis and Amara Darboh.
But the University of Michigan football equipment manager doesn't want people to forget about the unsung heroes -- in this case, backup quarterback and kick holder Garrett Moores.

"Moores for Holder of the Year!" Sonny Anderson tweeted Wednesday, attaching a video of Moores' highlights while holding the ball for kicker Kenny Allen.
The video, complete with holder-specific hype music, begins with Moores' two-point conversion against Rutgers. Moores jumped up after taking the snap and scurried into the end zone for his first career score.
Afterward, the video cuts to a montage of Moores' elite ability to spin the ball in such a way that the seams point away from Allen's foot. His teammate's appreciation for his skill is obvious in the many shots of muted celebration between the pair.

The Wolverines are 9-0 this season and hope to polish off a Big Ten championship next month. Jim Harbaugh also wants Peppers and quarterback Wilton Speight in the Heisman Trophy conversation.
Now Michigan is making an ambitious pitch for holder of the year award, too. Keep the dreams big, Wolverines.

The Holder of the Year award was invented by ex-Minnesota punter Peter Mortell, who famously tweeted "'Your hands are too slow' they said. 'Your cadence has no rhythm' they said. This one's for the state of Minnesota." after his holding days with the Golden Gophers.
Mortell released his nominees for the award last Friday. Moores made the list.
