Metro Detroit weather: Arctic cold front moving in Tuesday

A stronger Arctic Cold Front is swinging through tomorrow.

We’ll start the day cool in the upper teens to low 20s and highs will head into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees. That front will sweep through and send bitter cold air into Pure Michigan for several days starting late tomorrow. Most of the day will be on the mild side near 30 degrees with winds WSW 5-15 mph.

The core of the really cold air will be here Wednesday through Friday. Lows in the single digits to low teens and highs mainly in the upper teens to low 20s. The winds will be whipping from the West 10-25 mph and that will set up the Lake Effect Snow Machine for Wednesday. Watch out for dangerous squalls Wednesday that will massively reduce visibility and lay down an icy coating as you drive. Those snow bands should be lighter on Thursday.

Another snow storm may begin Friday afternoon into Saturday with a possible wintry mix blending in. We will keep our eye on this storm as we head through the week. Stay ahead of snow and cold with the Local4Casters app and take the weather with you.
