ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Ann Arbor Police Department has launched an online citizen reporting system which allows police reports to be filed without going to a station.

Residents now can go to www.a2gov.org/police to file the reports.

The Police Department said the website will allow it to focus departmental resources on more urgent matters.

Minor reports do not usually require an interview or follow up investigation, the department said.

It listed frequent types of reports that should be filed in the new system.

-- Harassing phone calls from unkwown caller
-- Theft without witnesses
-- Vandalism by unknown suspect without witnesses
-- Identity theft by unknown suspect
-- Lost or damaged property
-- Vehicle crashes on private property or damage to unattended vehicle
