Over the past few weeks, the facility has been slowly increasing its social media posts, with brief, behind-the-scenes looks at the State Theatre's progress. Originally planned as an eight to 12-month project, the State closed in September 2016, with a goal of raising $8.5 million, which will allow for an increase to four screens instead of two; a restoration of C. Howard Crane’s Art Deco design throughout the State's interior; updated movie projection and sound systems; ADA features for mobility-impaired, hearing-impaired and vision-impaired citizens; and perhaps most importantly for this writer, comfortable seats. Other additions include an elevator, which was also teased recently on the State's Twitter account, and the installation of new HVAC, mechanical and life safety systems.
