DETROIT – A police officer accidentally shot himself while responding to a dog attack on Detroit’s west side.
The incident occurred on Tuesday (Dec. 23) around 9 p.m. on Lyndon Street and West Outer Drive when police said the officer fired shots at the dog and shot himself in the foot.

Police said the officer was being treated at a Metro Detroit hospital and was listed in stable condition.
