76-year-old Pittsfield township man killed in crash

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 76-year-old man from Pittsfield Township died after being hit by an SUV on Saturday, April 13.
Ernest William Lareau Jr. was struck by a white Ford Escape as he crossed Washtenaw Avenue near Foster Avenue around 10:50 p.m.

An 18-year-old Ypsilanti man was driving the SUV westward in the curb lane as Lareau Jr. crossed the road. Officials said he was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.
It has not yet been determined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the fatal accident, police said.
