ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A Corvette caused a four-car crash Tuesday in a busy area of Ann Arbor, leaving eight people injured, police said.

The crash happened at 1:38 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024, on South State Street near I-94.

Officials said they believe a Corvette was speeding as it went north on State Street and hit a truck that was turning out of a private drive.

The collision forced the Corvette into the southbound lane, where it was struck by a Jeep and an SUV, police said.

A 20-year-old passenger from the Corvette was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The 17-year-old Corvette driver, the 69-year-old truck driver, four people from the Jeep, and one person from the SUV were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, according to authorities.

Investigators believe speed contributed to the crash.

The road was shut down during the investigation, but it reopened on Tuesday evening.
