ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Ann Arbor firefighters responded to a second alarm fire early Monday morning at the Hidden Valley Apartments, where a well-advanced fire was burning in the clubhouse attic.
Crews said they arrived on Aug. 4, 2025, to find heavy flames and went defensive as the fire quickly escalated to a second alarm.

Firefighters stated that the clubhouse was closed at the time of the fire, which is believed to have been burning for an extended period before the 911 call.
The fire caused extensive damage, resulting in a total loss of the clubhouse building.
Crews said the blaze also led to flooding in nearby apartment units, displacing residents, including students.
Officials reported no injuries.
The Ann Arbor Police Department provided on-site assistance, along with staff from Hidden Valley Apartments, HART rehab, Scio Township, Ann Arbor Township, and Pittsfield Township fire departments.
Additional citywide coverage was provided by Northfield Township, Saline Area, Dexter Area, and Superior Township fire departments.
Police said residents expressed frustration over the cleanup efforts for the flooding.
So far, neither management nor police have issued updates on the situation.
One caller reported that he was attempting to vacuum water out of his daughter’s apartment alone, as no crews were working to address the water damage.
