ANN ARBOR, Mich. – More than 120 animals are now receiving better care after a large rescue by the Humane Society of Huron Valley.

The animals were seized Friday, Sept. 5, from a woman who allegedly has a history of animal cruelty convictions. The group included dogs, cats, horses, ponies, a donkey, goats, sheep, a rabbit, snakes, iguanas, frogs, tarantulas and more. Many were found in poor health and unsafe conditions but are now receiving care at HSHV.

It reportedly is not the first time more than 100 animals were seized or forfeited from her.

According to the HSHV, she currently has two pending felony animal cruelty charges from northern Michigan and a warrant for failure to appear in court, a prior conviction in another northern county, where authorities seized 40 horses.

She allegedly exploited animals through businesses like petting zoos and pony rides, which often conceal the animals’ suffering.

HSHV anticipates that many of these unique animals will be available for adoption soon; you can sign up for email notifications here.

People are encouraged to foster or volunteer to help the animals in what is now a very full facility. You can donate here.
