Michigan basketball star Morez Johnson Jr. hosts holiday coat drive in Ann Arbor

Johnson will personally distribute brand-new winter coats to 100 local children

ANN ARBOR, Mich.Michigan Wolverines basketball forward Morez Johnson Jr. is teaming up with The Children’s Place to host a holiday coat drive for underserved youth in the Ann Arbor community.

The event will take place Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the YMCA Ann Arbor, located at 400 West Washington Street.

Johnson will personally distribute brand-new winter coats to 100 local children.

He will also offer support and encouragement and lead a mini basketball clinic aimed at inspiring confidence and connection through sport.

This initiative highlights Johnson’s dedication to giving back and providing essential resources to families during the winter season.

Johnson Jr. is in his debut season with the No. 2-ranked Wolverines, as he transferred from Illinois last season with the Illini.

With the Illini, Johnson Jr. was touted as a big-time freshman, but with Michigan, he has made a massive impact.

In his debut with the Wolverines, Johnson Jr. scored 24 points while grabbing three rebounds and three assists against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies inside Crisler Arena.
