Roads reopen after train derailment in Pittsfield Township
No hazardous materials or injuries reported, officials confirm
PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A few roads in Pittsfield Township closed after Wednesday’s train derailment have reopened.
At least 13 train cars went off the track early Wednesday, Feb. 18, near Payeur Road, just east of State Street in Pittsfield Township.
The derailment left rail cars, axles, and parts of the train tracks scattered throughout the woods.
The train cars were carrying grain and nothing hazardous. No one was injured in the derailment.

Authorities said property damage appears to have been contained to just the railroad property.
Payeur and Morgan roads reopened Monday, Feb. 23.
