DETROIT – From Broadway to Detroit, six award-winning musicals are coming to the city.

On Thursday, Broadway In Detroit announced their line up for the 2012-2013 season.

Sponsored by Chrysler, the schedule includes: The Book of Mormon, Billy Elliot the Musical, La Cage Aux Folles, Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical, Memphis and Catch Me If You Can. 

 "We are bringing Broadway's biggest hits to Detroit audiences with this new season subscription series," said Broadway In Detroit Executive Director Alan Lichtenstein.

  • From the creators of SouthPark, The Book of Mormon is the winner of nine Tony Awards®  including Best Musical. The New York Times said, "It's the best musical of this century." The Daily Show's Jon Stewart calls it "A crowning achievement. So good, it makes me angry." The show is scheduled to run March 12-24, 2013 at the Fisher Theatre and contains explicit language.
  • Billy Elliot the Musical is past winner of ten Tony Awards®. Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of a boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a surprising talent that inspires his family and his whole community. Based on the international hit film, Billy Elliott, this musical will run September 4–16, 2012 at the Fisher Theatre.
  • La Cage Aux Folles, starring George Hamilton and Christopher Sieber, recently made Tony Awards® history as the first show to win three times for best production.  This musical tells the story of Georges, the owner of a glitzy nightclub in Saint-Tropez, and his partner Albin, who moonlights as the glamorous Zaza. When Georges' son brings his fiancée's conservative parents home to meet the flashy pair, the bonds of family are put to the test as the feather boas fly.
  • Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical will come to the Detroit Opera House, December 18-30, 2012 for the holiday season.The show features the hit songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" as Max the dog narrates the classic holiday tale.
  • Winner of four Tony Awards®, Memphis, takes place in the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 50's, where a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun fell in love with everything he shouldn't:  rock and roll and an electrifying black singer. This show comes to the Fisher Theatre, April 9-21, 2013.
  • Catch Me If You Can is based on the DreamWorks film and the incredible true story that inspired it.  This new musical tells the story of Frank W. Abagnale, Jr., a teenager who runs away from home with nothing more than his boyish charm, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged checks. This show will be at the Fisher Theatre, May 7-19, 2013
