Detroit Cass Tech High School presents 'The Color Purple'

DETROIT – "The Color Purple" is hitting the stage in Detroit.

It will be presented by the Cass Technical High School Performing Arts Department. The show runs from April 18 through April 21.  It will mark the first time the play has been done on the high school level.

The musical performance is based off a novel, The Color Purple, written by Alice Walker.  It then became a musical and film. It tells the story of a young African American woman, Celie, who is from Georgia.  The story is set around the challenges Celie faces while growing up in the early twentieth century.

The following are the show times for the Cass Technical High School Performing Arts Department:

- Wednesday, April 18th at 12:30 p.m.
- Thursday, April 19th at 10:30 a.m.
- Friday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m.

There is also an Alumni Night on Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m.
