According to the Red Cross, January is "National Blood Donor Month," a historically tough time to collect blood donations due to demands from cold weather, and the New Year. Therefore, people in the community are being asked to donate blood this month, in order to counteract potential shortages during emergencies, surgeries, and treatment of serious diseases.

Giving blood takes approximately one hour. Donors must be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be 17 years of age or older. To make an appointment to donate, you can register online here, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
