Pop-up children's museum exhibit to start this month

DETROIT – The idea started in 2010, and six years later bringing a children’s ‘Hands-On Museum’ to Macomb County is about to become a reality.

“Early childhood learning is vitally important to a child’s overall development,” said museum board President Monika Rittner. “A museum focused on science, technology and learning through interactive play will be an important asset to both Macomb County and the metro Detroit area.”

Local business leaders in Macomb have been working for years to create something geared towards early childhood learning.

The museum will feature interactive exhibits related to construction, energy conservation, science and technology, math, and health and fitness, all designed to encourage children to take an active role in learning, but don’t go searching the museum just yet, it hasn't' been built yet.

“We’re so close to deciding on the location for the museum and we’re getting so much great feedback from interested families,” said Rittner.

So rather than making the people wait and to help get the word out about the future hands on museum, the committee is taking the museum on the road for the summer called “Museum Without Walls”.
