DETROIT – The Read to a Child nonprofit organization joined forces with Quicken Loans for a charity challenge in a race for $25,000, which will be put to good use for children in Detroit.
Twenty five different Detroit-based children’s charities participated in the challenge by attempting to raise the most funds in hopes of winning the $25,000 grand prize from Quicken Loans.
“The flood of support for these Detroit children’s charities is tremendously inspiring. Our team members, their friends and family, as well as the surrounding community have rallied together for a great cause,” said Chris Uhl, Quicken Loans vice president of community investments. “We set a lofty and ambitious fundraising goal of $500,000 in our first year of this campaign, and Quicken Loans is donating an additional $100,000 when the campaign ends this Wednesday, so we’re hopeful we can reach it.”
The 28-day fundraising campaign ended with a total of $641,656 raised, which will go toward multiple charities focusing on children in Detroit.
