DETROIT – The Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan provides beds and furniture to families living at or below the poverty level, collaborating with other human service organizations to serve:
- Children
- Newborns and Infants
- Victims of Domestic Violence
- Families Transitioning from Homelessness
- Victims of Fire and Foreclosure
- Those with Disabilities and Medical Emergencies
- Those Receiving Mental Health Services
- Foster Parents
- Seniors

Through our Furniture for Families program, the Furniture Bank served 1,454 client-families – or more than 4,800 individuals in total – providing 10,400 items of furniture valued at $585,000.
Seventy-five percent (75%) of families served had an annual household income of less than $10,000 and 87% had an income of less than $19,000.
The Furniture Bank provided 1,768 mattresses, 1,462 box springs, 982 dressers, 918 sofas, 460 dining tables and 1,885 dining chairs– along with hundreds of living room chairs, end tables, nightstands and other items – to local families in need.
