In the spirit of the season, the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Association (MDCD) expect to give local children battling cancer a heartwarming holiday this year.
Local dealerships have announced they will again be filling their trucks with new toys which will be donated—in an inspiring cavalcade of 38 Chevy Silverados—to The Bottomless Toy Chest, a Troy-based charity that gift wraps and delivers toys to hospitalized pediatric cancer patients throughout the year.

A “Chevy Detroit tradition” that began in 2015, the MDCD’s annual Season of Giving Toy Drive campaign will run Nov. 13 through Dec. 13 and culminate in the heartfelt transport to the charity on Dec. 14.
Mickey Guisewite, Executive Director of the Bottomless Toy Chest, credits the generous volume of toys donated during the MDCD’s Season of Giving Toy Drive with helping the charity grow.
“The toys donated by the Metro Chevy Detroit Dealers’ Season of Giving campaign have kept us quite busy the last few years,” said Guisewite. “It takes a lot of hands to prepare the toys before they reach the kids, and in October of 2016, we were fortunate to move into to a larger warehouse that better enables us to involve the community with volunteer opportunities - including 64 wrap parties! The Season of Giving campaign means we are able to bring more smiles to more kids; we are so grateful for the MDCD for their continuing support,” she said.
The Bottomless Toy Chest, which was founded by Guisewite after her son was treated for leukemia at age 12, makes routine deliveries to hospitals 52 weeks a year. In 2016, the organization delivered approximately 14,500 toys and activities to Southeast Michigan hospitals the organization serves.
Paul Stanford, president of Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Local Marketing Association, expressed the importance of keeping the toy drive and delivery an annual tradition in the MDCD community.
“Dependability takes on new meaning for us this time year with the toy drive, and the Silverado—which has a legacy of being the most dependable full-size pickup on the road—is up to the job,” Stanford said. “The hospitals that serve children undergoing cancer treatment have come to depend on these toys to brighten the holiday season for their young patients and the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers is happy to play a role in the toy donation process through the Bottomless Toy Chest.”
Visitors to MDCD showrooms are invited to place a new toy in the back of a ‘Season of Giving’ Chevy Silverado display. For more information about the campaign, or to print a wish list from The Bottomless Toy Chest, please visit http://chevydetroit.com/season-of-giving/.
