Go 4 It: Make sure Metro Detroit students get to experience prom

DETROIT – Prom is an important part of growing up, and we want to help make sure students in our area have a chance to experience it.

Our March Go 4 It Event is “Pass it on for Prom.” We’re collecting new or like-new dresses for students who need them to go to prom.

We’ll be at the Boys & Girls Club at 16500 Tireman Avenue in Detroit from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 18, 2026. This event is to collect donated dresses.

• Who: WDIV, Henry Ford Health, the Gilbert Family Foundation, Belle of the Ball, and Hot Sam’s Detroit.
• What: Go 4 It: Pass it on for Prom.
• Where: Boys & Girls Club -- 16500 Tireman Avenue in Detroit.
• When: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 18, 2026.
• Why: Collecting new or like-new dresses for students.

Those dresses will be distributed at the “Belle of the Ball Annual Prom Dress Giveaway,” which is organized by Wayne County Commission Chair Alisha Bell.

That giveaway is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 11, 2026, at the Boys & Girls Club. Call 313-224-0936 for more information about that event.
