Equifax CEO Richard Smith steps down after massive internet data breach

Equifax CEO Richard Smith will retire after the company's massive hacking and security scandal, CNBC reports. 

Overall, 143 million people were affected by the data breach. 

It's estimated that 4 million people in Michigan were included in the hack.

According to the Associated Press,  Smith had been Equifax's CEO since 2005 and Paulino do Rego Barros Jr. was named interim CEO.
