What are Fingerlings?

Here's a video showing the $14.95 toy in action:

Here's the marketing description from the Fingerlings website:

With Fingerlings, fun is always close at hand. Literally! These baby monkeys cling to your fingers and go where you go. They react to sound, motion and touch, make fun little monkey noises, and move in ways that will make you squeal with delight. Friendship really is at your fingertips!

The toy was released in August by WowWee, a robotic toy company, and almost immediately sold out. You can read about the product's origins  .

Demand is so strong for the toy, it's prompted the website ZooAlert to track availability from major retailers. As you can see here, they're sold out just about everywhere.

Amazon lists a number of Fingerlings for sale, though at noticeably inflated prices compared to the advertised retail price. Here's one for sale on eBay for $74.99.

Can you explain the Fingerlings craze? Are your kids in love with this toy? Post in the comments below. And if you're having trouble finding these toys, email Help Me Hank
