Back-to-school season is here, and with teachers spending nearly $900 out of pocket on classroom supplies last year, according to AdoptAClassroom.org, Local 4 has partnered with Meijer to give back to an educator in the metro Detroit community.
Use the form below to nominate a teacher who has made a lasting impact on you or your educational journey. One nominated teacher will be selected to receive a $900 Meijer gift card to help support their classroom this school year.
Make sure you tell us why this teacher is deserving of the gift card from Meijer. Do they go above and beyond for their students? Do they spend money out of pocket for their students every year? Have they overcome challenges despite the stress of being a teacher? Tell us everything about them!
Submissions due in or before Aug. 20. The winner will be selected by WDIV and announced on-air, on WDIV social platform, and on this webpage by the end of August. This contest is limited to the first 200 nominations submitted. Once 200 teachers have been nominated, the contest will be closed.
If you win, make sure you keep this a secret! Local 4 and Meijer wants to surprise this deserving teacher at their school live on TV! How fun will that be?
You must be 18 years or older to nominate a teacher. If you are a student, make sure you have your parent help with the nomination process.
To enter, make sure you know the teacher’s name, what school they teach at, what grade they teach, and contact information of the school they teach at.
