Michigan Center for Fertility & Women's Health: State of the Art with the Biggest Heart

No description found

When you walk through the doors of the Michigan Center for Fertility & Women’s Health (MCFWH), there is an immediate sense of calm and comfort. The office doesn’t feel clinical.  It feels more like you have entered a spa.  And that is intentional. Because infertility is stressful and MCFWH will do everything it can to make you feel relaxed and supported.

But don’t let that fool you. MCFWH leads the way in state-of-the-art care.  And have clearly been successful at it.  According to success rates provided by SART (the primary organization of professionals dedicated to the practice of IVF) MCFWH has some of the highest success rates in Michigan, especially in the area of live births.  With both live and frozen embryos, MCFWH’s success rates exceed those of the national average.
Under the direction of Dr. Carole Kowalczyk, medical director and founder, the center excels at helping couples become parents.

“We customize our treatment plan to meet our patients’ needs,” explains Dr. Kowalczyk, a reproductive endocrinologist certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, an Hour Detroit Top Docs Hall of Famer for the past six years, as well as a recent nominee for WJR’s prestigious Women Who Lead series, which recognizes women making a difference in Michigan. “We take into account their ethical, financial, emotional and religious beliefs, along with their medical situation, and devise a plan that will work for them.”  Visit http://mifertility.com to read what patients have to say.

The center offers the latest in fertility treatment, including IVF with or without ICSI, ovulation induction, fertility preservation, egg and sperm freezing, and embryo cryopreservation. It also specializes in pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), a screening test used to determine if there are any genetic conditions, and pre-implantation genetic screening (PGS) which samples for chromosomal abnormalities.

Part of the practice’s success comes from the fact that it treats patients’ emotional and physical health. For 15 years, MCFWH has taken care of patients’ complete care, offering stress reduction services like counseling, massage and reflexology to treat the emotional side of infertility, while complementing it with state of the art medical services. It is currently the only practice in Michigan to offer laser acupuncture, which has been proven to improve IVF success rates.

Under the direction of Dr. Kowalczyk, the practice has expanded to include physician assistant, Alexa Karbowski, a leader in fertility care, who manages the center’s polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) program, a common cause of infertility. And its CAP certified embryology and andrology laboratory is directed by, Michael Kirk, MT, ELD/TS, a board certified embryology laboratory director.  Kirk specializes in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART).

Headquartered in Warren, Michigan, the practice has a highly successful second location in Lake Orion.
Dr. Kowalczyk’s is the co-host of “Women Who Lead” on AM 760 WJR. The show features segments on women’s health, wellness, families and work, and provides a community for women to help one another.
Dr. Kowalczyk’s passion for keeping women healthy led to her starting an organic beauty line branded under the name in Harmony Naturals. “I developed a natural skin care and mineral makeup line made here in Michigan that is good for you. It heals and rejuvenates, all without harmful ingredients.” The company recently made the “A List” of La Fashionista Compassionista, a NY beauty publication, for its commitment to plant-based and cruelty-free living. A percentage of sales support Seasons of Life Fertility Foundation. http://inharmonynaturals.com
