Dearborn Homecoming opens Friday

Rock band WAR headlines Saturday, with fireworks show Saturday, Sunday

DEARBORN, Mich. – Dearborn's Homecoming festival is back for a 33rd year with the band WAR headlining the weekend entertainment.

The festival is Friday to Sunday at Ford Field Park, 22051 Cherry Hill.

The rock band WAR is on the Main Stage 8:30 p.m. Saturday.  The band members will encourage the audience to sing and dance to "The World is a Ghetto," "All Day Music," "Spill the Wine," "The Cisco Kid," "Low Rider," and "Why Can't We Be Friends?"

At 8:30 p.m. Friday, the Main Stage features Dearborns' Rhythm & Blues Blast! featuring Thornetta Davis, Laith Al-Saadi and the Motor City Horns.

Contemporary hits and 80's and 90's rock music will be performed by local band Riot House at 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

New this year is a Green Area with green alternatives for daily living 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Environmental clubs, businesses and organizations active in the region will be on hand to give insights on reducing your carbon footprint. 

Also new is the Art Area located south of the bridge open 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Detroit Institute of Arts' "Drop-in Art" Project and the Henry Ford Community College Art Department are part of this new venue.

The carnival is open 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

All-day ride wrist bands are $18.
