Survey: What age can kids stay home alone?

BuzzFeed Life polled more than 100,000 parents

DETROIT – When is a child old enough to stay home alone? Use Facebook? Get a cell phone?

Answers probably vary, depending on the parent and the child. BuzzFeed Life recently polled more than 100,000 parents on many of these questions. Here are some of the results:

How old should a kid be to get their own Facebook account?

- 58% say 14 to 15-years-old

- 24% say 12 to 13-years-old

- 15% say when they move out

- 3% say 10 to 11-years old

How old should a kid be before they get a cell phone?

- 46% say not till they are a teen

- 45% say 10 to 12-years-old

- 8% say 8 to 10-years-old

- 1% say 5 to 7-years-old

What age should a kid be able to stay home alone?

- 64% say 13-years-old

- 30% say 10-years-old

- 4% say never

- 2% say under 10-years-old
