Cookie Icing (yields one dozen cookies)
Ingredients:

1 cup powdered sugar
2 teaspoons milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Food coloring
Directions:
1. Stir the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
2. Beat in corn syrup and vanilla until icing is smooth and glossy (if it's too thick, add more corn syrup).
3. Divide icing into separate bowls and stir in food coloring as desired
4. You can dip the cookies, or spread with a knife or spatula.
Butter Cream Frosting
Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons milk
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter, shortening, and vanilla.
2. Blend in the sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
3. Beat in the milk, and continue mixing until light and fluffy.
4. Keep frosting covered until ready to decorate.
