The Brazeal Dennard Chorale's 40th anniversary holiday concert

Detroit – The critically acclaimed Brazeal Dennard Chorale, directed by Dr. Augustus Hill, will present its 40th annual Holiday Concert on Sunday, Dec. 4 at Orchestra Hall.

The concert will feature an evening of music designed to usher in the holiday season including carols, classical works and sacred Negro spirituals performed by members of the Brazeal Dennard Chorale, Brazeal Dennard Community Chorus and the newly formed Brazeal Dennard Young People’s Chorale, featuring male and female singers ranging in age from eight to 18.

“We look forward to presenting a festive evening of music and family entertainment that is sure to appeal to all segments of our community,” said Don Robinson, executive director of the Brazeal Dennard Chorale.

“This performance has extra special significance given it’s our 40th anniversary Holiday Concert. The night will be a celebration of everyone who has contributed to the rich history of the Brazeal Dennard Chorale. We’re equally excited about the appearance of our Young People’s Chorale, which will give the public a glimpse of what to expect from our group in the next 40 years and beyond.”

Tickets for the 7 p.m. performance are $50 (box seats); $30 (general admission); and $20 (balcony); and can be purchased by contacting the Chorale office at 313-331-0378 or 313-823-5278. Brazeal Dennard Chorale Holiday Concert tickets also are available through the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Box Office at 313-576-5111.

Named after its legendary founder, the late Brazeal Dennard, the Brazeal Dennard Chorale’s mission is to “remember, discover, preserve, and share the Negro spiritual as a part of the artistic community, and to rediscover and perform significant choral works by African American composers.”
