These Delicious Cheesesteaks are Treating Lefties Right!

Are you left handed or do you know someone who is? Well there is a place in metro Detroit that is serving up some deliciously cheesy hoagies south paw style.

“My motto is Lefty's where everything's done right,” says the owner of Lefty’s Cheesesteak, Sam Berry.

Sam is, you guessed it, left handed.

“Lefties are unique people, they’re rare. One out of ten people is left handed. You know, I grew up left handed and I acknowledge all the lefties and I’m proud to be a lefty,” explains Sam.

So in their new Dearborn location they covered their wall in famous lefties-- like Eminem and Albert Einstein -- and they have a big white board where right handers are asked to sign their name with their left hand.

In terms of food, they cook up some mouthwatering sandwiches as well as burgers, coney dogs, salads, and some appetizers like their corn beef egg rolls.  

They are, however, most famous for their cheesesteak, and it is made a bit differently than most. They start with thinly sliced ribeye steak and cook it up mixing freshly cut onions right into it. It’s important to them to really chop the meat and onions up so that you can’t pull half the meat off of the sandwich in a single bite. Then they top it with a Swiss-American cheese blend and fold it in so every bite will be nice and cheesy. They pile the meat, onion and cheese mixture into a hoagie bun and top it with their signature spicy cherry peppers.
