Ice Cube comes back to Detroit this weekend

The rapper, actor, and entrepreneur is bringing his Big 3 Basketball to Little Caesars Arena.

You know him for his music and his movies, but this weekend Ice Cube will be in town with his Big 3 Basketball. It’s a league he founded years ago that has continued to see success and growing interest. This Sunday, he and the Big 3 teams will hit the court at Little Caesars Arena.

When talking to “Live In The D” host Tati Amare about Big 3, Ice Cube said, “It’s professional 3-on-3 basketball played at the highest level.” He said you have a chance to see former NBA stars who have come out of the league and continue to play. On the side lines, there are also superstar coaches leading each team, including two teams lead by Lisa Leslie and Nancy Lieberman. Both women have won the Big 3 Championship before and their teams will face off against each other this Sunday in Detroit.

“You have both of these hall of famers who came in and won the championship, and oh yeah, they’re women. At the end of the day that didn’t matter what gender they were. Everybody was going for that championship and they won it,” said Ice Cube.

He also talked about trash talking in the game which is allowed and in some cases encouraged. He says it brings another element to the game, and because the players can have a little fun that way, nothing is bottled up that could lead to an angry outburst.

Tati also talked with Ice Cube about lending a voice to the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. To hear what Ice Cube had to say about that, and to hear his shoutout to Detroit, watch the video above.
