Metro Detroit is the only place you’ll find a brand new technology in the state and the great lakes region. EGYM is a tech savvy, 30 minute workout circuit inside the South Oakland Family YMCA in Royal Oak.
“EGYM is just amazing in all honestly. Our one word descriptor is super cool. It is personalized fitness,” Makaya Gardner, Senior Program Director for the South Oakland YMCA said.
The EGYM has 11 machines, each serving a different workout purpose, and designed to fit each person, and their specific work out goals.
“You get this nice little wrist band and it syncs up with you, so when I scan it, it says welcome and it remembers my past workouts,” Gardner said. She said it remembers everything about your previous workout and constantly changes up your workout so you’ll see progress in your goals. The EGYM is free to members.
The South Oakland YMCA will hold a free community open house, December 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 1016 W. 11 Mile Road, Royal Oak, MI.
