Art Birmingham Returns for 44th Year

Festival Features 150 Artists in Shane Park

This Mother’s Day weekend, downtown Birmingham will be buzzing with artistic flair as Art Birmingham returns to Shane Park for its 44th year. The family-friendly event promises a vibrant mix of creativity, featuring 150 artists across various mediums, including painting, jewelry, and more.

Marie Parmer, an abstract mixed-media artist, and Allison Neal, Senior Director of Marketing and Partnerships for the Guild, appeared on “Live In The D” to discuss the much-anticipated event. Neal emphasized the wide array of offerings, saying, “We’ll have 150 artists, all different mediums. We have painting, jewelry, a little bit for everyone.”

Parmer shared her artistic journey, crediting her mother for inspiring her to become a full-time painter. “It never would have even occurred to me to even go to art school if I hadn’t seen her success and her being so happy with what she did,” said Parmer.

In addition to the art, the event will feature interactive activities, including puppet-making and live music, courtesy of the Birmingham Bluefield Art Center. Adult attendees can also enjoy beverages, adding to the festive atmosphere.
