May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and a Detroit native is helping others through her line of journals.
Candace Cox-Wimberley is the founder of “I Am a Genius” journals, which are designed to encourage self-reflection, mindfulness, and mental clarity.
Cox-Wimberley explained that she started by creating a career journal to help young people prepare for life after college or high school.
“I knew it was important to be able to give them a space to journal their thoughts without being judged by their friends or their parents on what they wanted to do with their lives,” she said.
Since then, Cox-Wimberley has created various other journals to help people.
“Journaling, I feel is for everybody,” she said.
