Film shares the story of Detroit techno pioneer

Fans can learn about Carl Craig’s life on the road

Movement Music Festival will fill Hart Plaza with beats this weekend while bringing a lineup of artists from around the globe to Detroit.

One of the performers is Detroit techno pioneer Carl Craig. Before he takes the stage for Movement, fans can experience the Detroit premiere of a film that shares the musical journey of the producer, DJ, and artist.

Screenings of “Desire: The Carl Craig Story” will be held at Michigan Central Station on May 22nd and May 23rd. This will mark the Detroit premiere of the film by Jean-Cosme Delaloye.

“The story is about my life on the road. The filmmaker followed me around for about a year, and the cherry on top is that he talked with colleagues, he talked with friends, he talked with my family. It’s a beautiful story for me to watch, and I’m glad it’s being launched to the people here in Detroit,” Craig said.

Craig will be performing at Movement on Saturday, May 24th. He will perform a back-back-back with Moodymann and Mike Banks.
