A carpenter whose list of projects includes working on the Hudson’s Detroit building has earned the Ace of Trades award, which is being handed out monthly as part of the Trade Up partnership between Local 4 and Carhartt.
Damian Jones, a carpenter with Brinker Construction, is the recipient of the award for May.
Jones shared that he once wanted to be a musician or artist, but he went back to school to learn his trade. Jones said he now feels like he’s where he’s meant to be.
Jones was nominated for the Ace of Trades award by Ann Kapaz and Mike Dowd.
“He really exemplifies the best in his trade,” Dowd said. He praised the “exceptional quality” of Jones’ work and highlighted how he’s become a mentor to younger apprentices.
Each month, Local 4 and Carhartt are handing out a special Ace of Trades award to someone who has been nominated for showing success in their specific trade.
The next Ace of Trades award will be handed out in June.
