We are turning up the heat in the kitchen for a fiery but friendly culinary showdown — it’s time for Iron Chef Detroit II taking place at Eastern Market next week. Chef John Wilhite of Green Dot Stables and Rev. Faith Fowler, the director of Cass Community Social Services joined “Live in the D” to give us a taste of what is in store for this year’s event.
“We have a whole campus full of programs and many of them are reliant on government funding. This kind of event gives us a buffer and it’s wonderful because it’s fun, so you are feeling good and doing good at the same time,” said Fowler.
This high-energy cook-off brings together some of the city’s most talented chefs to battle it out for bragging rights and to benefit a great cause.
“Our motto fighting poverty, creating opportunity, and building community. We do this through food, housing, healthcare, and jobs,” Fowler said.
The event will be held on June 12, 2025, at Eastern Market Shed 5 at 2810 Russell Street. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the competition will begin at 7 p.m.
